Map of the World Medal Struck in White Metal ND (ca. late 18th century) UNC, 73mm/106.23gms. Light golden and purple tone highlights the semi-reflective surfaces with no marks of significance and choice rims for a piece of its size. A wonderfully artistic map medal executed in fine detail, many of the tiny islands showing as mere dots of metal in the fields. While unsigned and undated, the reference to New Holland and Washington suggests engraving in the 1790s. Another copy of this medal, of similar similar but untoned quality, was sold by Goldberg auctions in September 2013 for $1,450 hammer.
Estimate: 500-700 USD
