Ferdinand VI 4 Reales 1754 G-J VF Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC, Guatemala mint, KM17.1. A few more contact marks than expected account for the designation, but still a wholesome example of this very rare date/variety combination. As for all the Colonial mints, the 4 Reales struck in Guatemala constitute the rarest denomination struck in silver. For the Ferdinand VI series, the initial 1754 date is the scarcest, with a great majority of the coins of that year being of the Spanish "5" variety. Thus, the present specimen can be legitimately considered as very rare and is indeed missing from most collections. A good opportunity for the specialist. From The Santa Maria Collection
