Guatemala
Charles III 8 Reales 1773 G-P VF20 NGC, Guatemala mint, KM36.1. A quite attractive example for the designation, showing even wear over essentially problem-free surfaces and softly struck on the reverse as often seen for this 2-year issue. The original Guatemala mint struck this type only in 1772 and 1773 before being destroyed by a series of earthquakes starting on July 29, 1773. As a result, the 1773 date is by far the rarer of the two, since only struck on part of a calendar year. An affordable example of this legitimately scarce coin. From The Santa Maria Collection
