Provisional Fantasy Date Imitation cob 1 Real pair, Caujaral mint, KM2. Lot of two 1 Real imitation cobs with fantasy dates, as follows: one dated "161", Fine, the other dated "1791", Very fine and attractive. These imitation cobs were issued by General Paez during the War for Independence period of Gran Colombia. A very scarce type, becoming quote popular amongst specialized collectors of this fascinating necessity series. Both illustrated in page 28 of R. Rosenman's enlightening recent reference ("Imitation cobs of Venezuela and Colombia").
