ECUADOR:SET of 2 coins, types KM-82 (2 sucres, 1973, NGC graded MS-64) and KM-84 (5 sucres, 1973, NGC graded MS-63), together with the original case (for set #165) and Certificate of Authenticity (Certificado de Autenticidad), set of 2 pieces, RR. The surviving mintage for the 2 sucres piece has been proposed as 35, but it is likely that it is somewhat higher today. For the 5 sucres, KM currently estimates about 50 pieces survive from a mintage of just 500. According to the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), the Central Bank of Ecuador limited the number of authenticated sets to 200, but these are obviously much rarer. Only one set, with case and COA, has appeared at auction in recent years, also with original case and documents, sold for $850 by Heritage in the CICF Signature Sale (April 2012), Lot 24221.
