TURKEY: Ahmed III, 1703-1730, AR pattern (16.26g), Kostantiniye, AH1115, KM--, elegant toughra of Ahmed / standard titles ("sultan of the two continents, khaqan of the two seas" and "may his victory be glorious"), mint and accession year, uniform oblique reading, fabulous strike, lovely rainbow toning, About Unc, RRRR. This remarkable piece seems to unpublished - it is not listed by Pere, Artuk, Ölçer, Uslu-Bayezit-Kara, or the most recent work of Damali. Damali does list a pattern, which he calls a kurush (weight of 16.64g), with the same obverse toughra design (different die), and the reverse with only the mint & date formula (23-K-G4, preserved in the Darphane Müzesi).
