GREAT MONGOLS: Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AV dinar (3.39g), Astarabad, ND, A-1966var, three-line legend al-khaqan / al-'adil / al-a'zam on obverse, Shi'ite kalima on reverse, mint name fully legible atop obverse field, and partially legible in obverse margin as well, nice strike with only minimal weakness for this series, EF, RRR. This is first Shi'ite example of the early Great Mongol dinars we have seen. It is probably dated from the 640s, before the accession of Möngke in AH649.
