YUAN: Da De, 1297-1307, AE 3 cash (9.78g), H-19.27, ta de tung baw in Mongolian 'Phags-pa script, Fine to VF, RRRR, ex Zhao Quanzhi Collection. Temür Öljeytü Khan (Da De), was the second emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, and is considered as the sixth Great Khan of the Mongols in Mongolia. He was an able ruler of the Yuan, and his reign established the patterns of power for the next few decades. His name means "blessed iron Khan" in the Mongolian language. Temür was a son of the Crown Prince Zhenjin and the grandson of Kublai Khan. During his rule, the Tran, Pagan, and Champa dynasties and western khanates of the Mongol Empire accepted his supremacy. This very example is shown in volume 5 of the Shanghai Encyclopedia (Zhongguo Li Dai Hon Xi Daxi) number 320. The publishers must have had access to the image via one of the publications of Zhao Quanzhi from the Min Guo period but without physical access to the piece as it later left for America and as the published description gives no weight.

Estimate: 3,000- 5,000 USD
