Marcus Aurelius. As Caesar, AD 139-161. Æ Sestertius (31mm, 24.65 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck under Antoninus Pius, AD 140-144. Bareheaded bust right, wearing aegis / Juventas standing left, holding branch in right hand; trophy and arms to right. RIC III 1233a var. (Pius–bust with slight drapery); BMCRE 1403 var. (Pius–bust with slight drapery); Banti 202 var. (bust with slight drapery?). VF, reddish-brown surfaces with traces of green, some roughness and deposits. Unrecorded with the aegis, but it appears from the photograph that the Banti coin may have an aegis also, not drapery, as cataloged.
