EMPIRE, SILVER DENARIUS OF AUGUSTUS, Rome, ca. 29-27 BC, 3.524g, 6h. RIC 267. Attractively toned. Insignificant areas of corrosion on obverse, otherwise, extremely fine
This type commemorates Octavian's victory at the Battle of Actium over Marc Antony and Cleopatra in 31 BC. The reverse probably shows the triumphal arch erected in the Forum Romanum to honor Octavian in 29 BC, known as the arcus Actianus.
