Dutch woodcut engraving entitled "De Galeyen van Frederik Spinola door's Landts Oorlogs Scheepen Overseilt in den Jaere 1602," engraved by Jan Luyken and published by Gregorio Leti, 1690 (Milan), hand-colored. 13-1/4" x 10-1/2" Large depiction of the Battle of Sluis in the Mediterranean during the Eighty Years' War with Dutch warships and Spanish galleys attacking each other, several capsizing ships and drowning sailors with crowds on the shoreline looking on. High grade map (printed on paper featuring a jester watermark) with light edge browning and repaired small centerfold separations at the top and bottom. (Estimate: $300 - 450)
