A note from BCD: A very readable book on the history of a city that was the apple of contention between Athens and the Spartan alliance. Chapter V deals with its early coinage whereas pp. 92-94 attempt to place the bronze coinage within the city's historical background. Plates XXII and XXIII provide coin photographs taken from the Olynthus excavations books by Robinson and Clement.
