MONOGRAPHS. Athens Numismatic Museum Acquisitions. Svoronos, I.N., ΕΘΝΙΚΟΝ ΝΟΜΙΣΜΑΤΙΚΟΝ ΜΟΥΣΕΙΟΝ έκθεσις τών κατ? το ακαδημαϊκόν ?τος 1894-1895 πεπραγμένων. Athens 1897. 4to (23.5x29cm), full tan leather with dark brown spine letters, raised bands, extra blank pages bound in; 67 pages, 1 plate. Binding slightly shelf worn, some pages mended. Good.
A note from BCD: Apart from the plate with photographs of the exceptional pieces that were acquired, the 13-page introduction, in the form of a report, deals with the early negotiations with Feuardent concerning the Demetrio collection which, years later, was published in two volumes and subsequently acquired by the Athens cabinet by means of exchange with Delphi staters from the Myonia hoard. There follows a 52-page detailed catalogue of the acquisitions, a wealth of information concerning the donors and the objects they donated, also what little was purchased with the limited funds available.
