China Russo-Asiatic Bank 10 Gold Fen = 1 Mace 9.8.1917 Pick S481a. A very rare Pick number that has not appeared at auction in recent years to the best of our knowledge. It is a colorful design that includes an imperial dragon at center on both sides. Circulation for this issue was during the years of 1913-24. This example grades PMG About Uncirculated 53, stamp cancelled. This bank was formerly known as the Russo-Chinese Bank before its 1910 reorganization. This note was printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company for the Kuld'sha, Chuguchak, and Kashgar branch banks in Turkestan. The Russo-Asiatic head office moved from St. Petersburg to Paris when the Bolsheviks seized power in 1918 and all assets of this bank within Russia were nationalized. The final death throes for the Paris head office and its remaining branches was in 1926. HID08701242017
