ROMAN EMPIRE
Gallienus, 253-268. Antoninianus 260/261, Mediolanum. Armoured bust, radiate, to r. Rev. LEG I ADI VI P VI F Capricorn r. 2,16 g. Coh. 447. MIR 982. RIC 315. Very rare. Almost very fine.
The Legio I Adiutrix was stationed under Gallienus in Pannonia and moved with the emperor to Italy where it took part in the victories against the Alemannii in the year 260. The designation VI pia VI fidelis, which the coin adds to the legion celebrates one of these victories.
