CALABRIA. Tarentum. Punic occupation, circa 212-209 BC. Half Shekel (Silver, 18 mm, 3.70 g, 11 h), Sokannas, magistrate. ΣΩKANNAΣ Warrior on horseback right, holding filleted palm frond in his right hand. Rev. TAPAΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and trident in his left; to right, eagle with spread wings standing left. HN Italy 1082. Vlasto 984. A fresh, sharp and exceptionally attractive piece. Good extremely fine.
