LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 340-334 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 23 mm, 7.55 g, 7 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with a griffin on the bowl; behind her neck, Θ. Rev. YEΛΗΤΩΝ Lion walking to right; below, Θ. HN Italy 1284. SNG ANS 1303. Williams 274. A fresh and very well centered piece of lovely style. Minor die break on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
