ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 412-404 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 8.50 g). Nude ithyphallic satyr, with long beard and long hair, moving right in 'running-kneeling' position, holding a nymph in his arms, who raises her right hand in protest; to right, Φ. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Le Rider 6 var. (A instead of Φ). SNG Lockett 1219. Rare and of beautiful style. Cleaned and with a minor edge crack, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
