UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Mid 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Quinarius' (Gold, 14 mm, 2.26 g, 11 h), imitating Lucius Verus (?), 161-169. IIH[...] ΛΛIINI Bare head of Lucius Verus (?) to left. Rev. HYLYY TNVIT Female figure standing front, holding uncertain object in her right hand and long scepter in her left. With original suspension loop attached (but somewhat deformed). Good fine.
From the Aurum Barbarorum Collection.
The curly hair and the lack of laurel wreath on the portrait point towards an issue of Lucius Verus (or Marcus Aurelius?) as the distant prototype of this imitation.
