CELTIC, Southern Gaul. Volcae-Arecomici. Late 2nd to early 1st century BC. Drachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.09 g), 'à la croix' type. Celticized male head to left with numerous annulets above. Rev. Large cross with three pellets and one annulet in quarters; each quarter bound by crescent. Flesche -. LT 2976 var. (no annulets above head). SLM 79 var. (differing style). Very rare. An exceptional piece with a very unusual obverse. Very minor flan faults on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
