UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Gold, 20 mm, 4.34 g, 1 h), imitating Diocletian, 284-305. HBBDBIQQDBBBSBD Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Diocletian to left, seen from behind. Rev. N∾[...]NBDΞD / ΓOH Jupiter standing front, head to left, holding Victory on globe in his right hand and long scepter in his left. Cf. Calicó 4482-4487 (for prototype). A most attractive imitation with a particularly bold and impressive barbarized portrait. Holed and with some scratches, otherwise, very fine.
