UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. 7th century. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.44 g, 7 h), imitating Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, 610-641. Crowned, draped and short-bearded bust of Heraclius facing, on the left; crowned and draped bust of Heraclius Constantine facing, with slight beard and moustache, on the right; above, cross; around, imitative legend. Rev. VICAOΛA AVVSV Є / CONOV Cross potent on base and three steps. Cf. DOC 13d, MIB 11 and SB 738 (for prototype). Holed twice and with a minor graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.

From the Aurum Barbarorum Collection.

This is by far the latest piece in the Aurum Barbarorum Collection: it was struck at least a century later than lot 832 above and may, in fact, be of Slavic rather than Germanic origin.
