Anastasius I, 491-518. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.48 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, circa 507-518. D N ANASTASIVS P P AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Anastasius I facing slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield decorated with horseman attacking a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. VICTORIA AVGGG S / CONOB Victory standing front, head to left, holding long jewelled staff surmounted by inverted Chi-Rho in her right hand; in field to left, star. DOC 7f. MIB 7. SB 5. Lustrous and clear. Very light marks on the reverse, otherwise, virtually as struck.
