Byzantine Weights, Circa 5th-7th centuries. Weight of 1 Ounkia (Orichalcum, 26 mm, 27.53 g), a uniface discoid commercial weight with centering holes, raised rims and a double-grooved edge. Γᴑ A with cross above; all engraved in outline and within stylized laurel wreath. Rev. Plain except for the centering hole. Bendall 123. MAH 158. Pera -. With a beautiful green patina. Minor scrape on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
