CELTIC, Northwest Gaul. Aulerci Eburovices. Late 2nd to first half of 1st century BC. Half Stater (Electrum, 19 mm, 2.74 g, 11 h), 'au loup' type. Celticized laureate head of Apollo to left, the hair devolved into pellets, lines and curls; on cheek, two straight lines of pearls with zigzag pattern between; on neck, propeller-shaped pattern. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his right hand; below, wolf standing right; before the horse, five pellets forming cross. DT 2397. LT 7020. SLM -. Rare. A lovely and sharp piece struck in very pale electrum. About extremely fine.
