UMAYYAD: Hisham, 724-743, glass vessel stamp (26.74g), AH107, A-- (31 x 18 mm) with remnant of the stem connector to vessel, slight devitrification, light green, transparent, Fine to Very Fine, RRR. The inscription is bism Allah / amara bi'l-wafa / 'abd Allah hisha- / -m amir al-mu'minin / sana sab' / wa mi'a, which seems to be correct, despite some minor weakness here and there. Glass pieces citing only the Umayyad caliph are extremely rare, and very few have ever been published. The date is either AH107 or 109, much more likely 107; both years fall with the reign of Hisham, AH105-126.
Estimate: 500-700 USD
