CONSENSV/ TRANSTVLIT./ 1720., minor obverse flan defect, lovely chocolate patina, Extremely Fine. The Swiss Johann Carl Hedlinger (1691–1771) was trained in Paris, became court medalist in Stockholm. In 1718 he became Chief Engraver at the Stockholm Mint, where he produced medals, coins and seals, including medals commemorating events in the reigns of Charles XII, Queen Ulrica Eleonora and King Frederik, as well as a series of 56 medals depicting Swedish rulers from the 9th century onwards in silver and bronze, c. 1728-45.
