SAMANID: Mansur I, 961-976, AE fals (2.68g), Ferghana, AH358, A-1467.3, muling of the dated obverse in the name of Mansur b. Nuh, who ruled AH350-365, and a reverse in the name of his successor Nuh III (365-387), also citing local official Ahmad b. 'Ali, Fine to Very Fine, RR. This muling is strong evidence that the coins of Ferghana dated AH358 and 359 were struck later without change of date, until the first dated issue of Nuh III in AH367, possibly even later. This helps explain why several types of the AH358 and 359 issues are known, each citing different local officials. The same applies to the mint of Bukhara.
