GOVERNORS OF SIND: Unknown governor, ca. 830s/840s, AR damma (0.43g), A-4518var, Fishman-, kalima obverse, possibly another word below, but off flan on this example // partially deciphered legend .... / .... al-mu'tasim billah / tamîsh; previously unreported and possibly unique, VF, RRR. The caliph al-Mu'tasim ruled 833-842. The name below the caliph's name can tentatively be read as Tamîsh, but it is unlikely that he was the same Tamîsh who was governor of Sind circa 800± and named on some Eastern Sistan drachms (A-89E). Further research is essential.
