AWADH: Wajid Ali Shah, 1847-1856, LOT of 18 copper paise of general type KM-351, a few with legible dates, many rather barbarous examples of various qualities of calligraphy and design, average Fine condition, but some are much better; retail value $300, lot of 18 pieces. The crude design of so many copper paise of Wajid Ali Shah suggests that the production of copper coins was left to local private producers. Finally, in the late years of his reign (AH1270-1272, fine quality production of the copper coinage was restored, and they were struck in 1/8, ¼, ½, and full paisa denominations (not included in this group).
