ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Early 2nd century BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 15 mm, 1.70 g, 12 h). Head of bearded Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΘΑΣΙ/ΩΝ Club within laurel wreath tied below. Le Rider, Thasiennes 48. SNG Copenhagen 1036. SNG Lockett 1232. Same dies as next lot. Rare. A bold example with nice toning. The head of Dionysos on this piece is of better style than is often encountered. Light scratch in right obverse field, otherwise, very fine.
