ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 148-90/80 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31.5 mm, 16.77 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion's skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, monogram. HGC 6, 359. Le Rider, Thasiennes 52. Nicely centered and toned. Quite attractive head of Dionysos for a later issue. A couple of small peck marks in reverse field. Very fine.
