D N ANASTA-SIVS P P AVC Diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Anastasius 3/4 facing to right, holding spear in his right hand and shield ornamented with rider over his left left shoulder. Rev. VICTORI-A AVCCC / CONOB Victory standing left, holding long cross; to right and left star. DOC 27. Metcalf, Thessalonica 260-9. MIBE 14-5. SB 30. Attractive, clear and sharp example from a rare mint. Extremely fine.
The absence of an officina letter is atypical for Solidi minted in Constantinople. Additionally the presence of two stars on the reverse is considered a "mint mark" for the mint of Thessalonica, and can be seen in Solidi of Anastasius's preceding emperors, like Zeno, Leo I etc.
