KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', Circa 215-190 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27.5 mm, 17.04 g, 1 h), struck posthumously, Myrina. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on throne with high back, holding eagle with closed wings on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, kantharos above monogram. Apparently unpublished. Cf. Price 1652 var. (monogram). Extremely rare, early civic "Alexander". Reverse slighly off-centre and with a few scratches, otherwise, very fine.
