THRACE. Byzantion. Late 3rd-2nd centuries BC. (Bronze, 22 mm, 6.76 g, 2 h), struck under the magistrate Zenon. Veiled head of Demeter to right, wreath with grain ears; grape countermark against cheek. Rev. BVZANTI / ΕΠΙ ZΕΝ Cornucopia to right; two countermarks on the fields: dolphin in circular incuse, and winged caduceus within a smaller rectangular incuse. HGC 3.2, 1414. Cf. SNG BM 68-70 (magistrate). For c/m cf. SNG BM Black Sea 69. Dark green patina. Fine.
