ATTICA. Athens. 115/4 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.67 g, 12 h), New Style, struck under the magistrates Metrodoros, Demosthenes and Philop.... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. Α-ΘΕ / ΜHT/POΔΩ/POΣ ΦIΛO - ΔH/MOΣ/ΘEN Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, grape bunch on stem; on amphora, Λ (= month 12); below amphora, ΣO (= contractor's initials). Thompson 642e-f (this obverse die). Toned and well-centered. Good very fine.

Interesting enough, the legend engraver misjudged his space and had to engrave the Ω of Metrodoros on the owl's wing!
