ATTICA. Athens. 102/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.85 g, 12 h), New Style, struck under the magistrates Timostratos, Poses and Dion... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. Α-ΘΕ / TIMO-ΣTPA/TOΣ /ΠO/THΣ/ ΔIOΝ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, Dionysos standing to left, holding a theatrical mask in his extended right hand and a thyrsos with his left; on amphora, Β (= month 2); below amphora, ΣO (= contractor's initials). Thompson 824 a-b (same obverse die). Toned and elegant. Good very fine.
