THRACO-MACEDONIAN REGION. Uncertain. Circa 6th century BC. One twenty-fourth stater (Electrum, 6.5 mm, 0.62 g). Head (or forepart) of a roaring lion to right, with open jaws. Rev. Irregular incuse square. Apparently unpublished to the standard references. A very interesting and early type with significant stylistic inconsistencies with the parallel Ionian emissions. Some marks and scuffs, otherwise, very fine.
