KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18.5 mm, 4.10 g, 1 h), Chalkis, circa 290-287. Diademed head of Demetrios to right, wearing bull's horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude, standing to left, his right foot on a rock, holding a trident with his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in outer left field, monogram. Newell 154b = SNG Munich 1051 (same obverse die). Same obverse die as Nomos 20, 2020, 127. Toned. Very rare type, and possibly only the third available over at least 30 years (all from the same obverse die). Nearly very fine.
