THESSALY. Pherai. Circa 460-440 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 16 mm, 3.04 g, 11 h). Archaic-style Thessalos standing to left, his petasos tied around neck and falling behind him, holding by a band the horns of a bull which he is attempting to retrain. Rev. ΦE-R-A Forepart of bridled horse galloping to right within incuse square. Cf. BCD Thessaly II 684 (arrangement of legend). HGC 4, 549. Same dies as CNG eauction 379, (2016), 97. Bold strike and light toning. Good very fine.
