ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28.5 mm, 16.12 g, 11 h), New Style coinage, struck under the magistrates Eume..., Epigenes, and Sosandros, 126-125 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested helmet. Rev. A-ΘE / EY/MH ΕΠΙ/ΓΕΝΗ[Σ] / ΣΩΣΑΝ/ΔΡΟΣ Owl standing to right on overturned amphora; in left field, eagle with closed wings standing to right on thunderbolt; on amphora, Γ; below, HPA; all within olive wreath. Thompson 445k. Scarce variety. Very fine.
