PHRYGIA. Laodikeia. P. Cornelius P.f. Lentulus Spinther, imperator, 57/6-54 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 11.82 g, 1 h), struck under the magistrate Anaxagoras, son of Artemidoros. Cista mystica with half-open lid from which a serpent issues to the left; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. ΛΑΟ / P LENTVLVS [P] · F / PRO · COS Two serpents coiled around a bow case; to right, winged caduceus; below, ΑΝΑΞΑΓΟΡΑΣ / [Α]ΡΤΕΜΙΔ[ΩΡΟΥ]. LRC -. Pinder -. Stumpf -. A unique coin, unrecorded in Metcalf's recent (2017) die study. Very fine.



Metcalf notes that there is only one die with the legend P LENTVLVS P F PRO COS. All other known dies name him as Imperator, P LENTVLVS P F IMP.
