MYSIA. Lampsacus. Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. 1/3 Assarion (Bronze, 17.5 mm, 2.12 g, 12 h). CEBACTOY Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. Λ-Α/Μ-Ψ/Α-Κ across the field Ithyphallic Priapos standing to left, holding wine cup(?) in his right hand, and with his left placed on his hip. BMC 79. RPC I 2274. SNG BN 1267. Scarce. Dark green patina. Nearly very fine.

The extra metal at 5h is the remains of the shaft produced during the molding of the flans, prior to striking. They were usually removed manually, but in some rare occasions, as this one, they were accidentally kept, possibly due to intense minting activity.
