Israel - Volunteering , Independence Day 10 Shekels Coin 2002 - 54th Anniversary - Gold 916, 16.96g, 30mm - Mintage 671
To give wholeheartedly and not for the sake of receiving recompense, is the essence of volunteering. Engaging in acts of kindness is an age old tradition among the Jewish People, and according to Jewish Sages, there is no higher level of goodness between a man and his fellowman. Giving charity is to give of one's money but volunteering involves the devoting of one's precious time and energy.

The Israel 54th Anniversary Coin was dedicated to Israel's devoted volunteers.

Obverse: Face value in Hebrew and English, Israel State Emblem, "Israel" in English, Hebrew and Arabic, border inscription "INDEPENDENCE DAY - 2002" in Hebrew and English.

Reverse: A pair of hands reaching out in a gesture of giving with a heart between them and from a certain angle, resembling two doves, symbol of love and peace; below 2 groups of four rainbow-shaped lines point in opposing directions, around the lower border, "VOLUNTEERING" in Hebrew, Arabic and English.
