TABERISTAN. Umar ibn A'ala, (771-782 AD). Silver Hemidrachm (2.00 gm; 24 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name Omar-ibn A'la in Pahlavi in front of the face, Arabic name Umar ibn in the 3rd quarter margin and A'la on the second quarter , reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 125. The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Manusr (754-775 AD). Lovely strike. Choice FDC. Lightly toned.
