The two previous coins are evidently the precursor to the Krugerrand (first issued in 1967). They celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Union of the two former Boer Republics (the Transvaal and the Orange Free State) with the two British colonies (the Cape of Good Hope and Natal) on May 31st.
