Republic Sun Yat-sen "Lower Five-Pointed Stars" Dollar ND (1912) AU55 ANACS, Nanking mint, KM-Y319, L&M-42, Kann-603, Chang-CH182, WS-0085, Wenchao-847 (rarity 3 stars). Variety with lower five-pointed stars on reverse. A commendable example of the type, struck to commemorate the founding of the Republic of China and emblazoned with the portrait of the "Father of China" and first provisional president of the newly formed republic, Sun Yat-sen. Deep charcoal and slate patination sweeps the fields and devices throughout, lightly obscuring only minimal evidence of handling that precludes this piece from a Mint State designation. An exciting and wholly pleasing representative of this coveted series.
