Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) MS63 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Y332, L&M-942, Kann-663, Chang-CH223, WS-0097. Struck for the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung-hsien. An immensely popular "flying dragon" issue showcasing both a superior conditional state and an advanced visual character rarely encountered on these issues, dressed in a pleasing and wholly pervasive originality that grips the surfaces of the example at hand. Yuan Shih-kai's regal bust in full military uniform is on full display, laudably bold and owed to a firm strike, centering an all-encompassing autumnal tone lit aglow under illumination. The reverse faces up especially attractive, mirroring the patination of the obverse and awash in cascading golden resplendence and certainly a great rarity when located this fine and problem-free.
