Szechuan-Shensi Soviet. Soviet Controlled Provinces Dollar 1934 AU58 PCGS, Szechuan-Silver Provincial mint, KM-Y513.1, cf. L&M-891, Kann-808d, Chang-CH262, WS-1343. Medium, solid stars, small circlet in lower right hemisphere of globe variety. A type whose generally crude production standards often results in low-quality, poorly preserved pieces, and yet we have the present coin. Situated on the absolute cusp of Mint State--a designation awarded to a mere 3 examples at PCGS--this piece carefully couples evidence of prime preservation with the trademarks of the type, die polish and residual luster appearing alongside light haymarking and a somewhat off-center denomination on the reverse. To date, one of the nicest examples we have had the privilege to offer, and sure to garner ample attention for connoisseurs of the series. From the Tony Ma Collection
