Anonymous, Quinarius, South-East Italy (?), traditionally after 211 BC; AR (g 1,60; mm 15; h 4); Helmeted head of Roma r.; behind, V, Rv. The Dioscuri galloping r.; below, ROMA in linear frame. Crawford 44/6 (?); C.E. Kink, Roman Quinarii: from the Republic to Diocletian and the Tetrarchy, Oxford 2007, pl. 2, nn. 14-18: this Anonymous Quinarius has refined stylistic features that make it more akin to the Greek style series Cr. 83-98/B, minted in Apulia at the end of the third century BC.
Old cabinet tone, fine style, extremely fine.
